Committee

Founder & Inspiration
Sarah Pattinson (1966-2023)

“If your sister was diagnosed with breast cancer what would you do ?
I organised a charity Pink Ball to distract her during her treatment. Kimberley was too ill to help with the organisation and it took all her courage to attend on the night and what a night ! The night which launched Pink Events.

Before I had children, I worked as a Personal Assistant and coordinated many corporate functions. Planning and organising is my strength. It is a pleasure to be part of Pink Events and although there is a lot of hard work involved it is certainly worth all the effort.

6th October 2023 – Announcement from the committee

Our hearts were broken today when we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Sarah.
Sarah was a wonderful, caring, funny, glamorous, loving and thoughtful person. She worked tirelessly to make Pink Events the marvellous charity that it is, always thinking of ways in which to raise money and awareness.
Pink Events will carry on Sarah’s legacy and work to make her proud, which we are sure she is and will be.
Sarah was a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Sister and Auntie and has been surrounded by all of her family this week.
Thank you to the team at St.James’ Hospital, LGI Heart Unit and Wheatfields Hospice for making her final days comfortable and peaceful.
She is loved by so many and will be missed by all.
Lots of love from the Pink Events’ family

Below are the committe of trustees for Pink Events

James O’Rourke
Trustee & Chair of committee
“Pink Events has been part of my life for many years now, I have always been on hand at our events helping and volunteering but I’m now able to give much more to Pink Events and by joining the Committee as a Trustee I hope to deliver that.
My dream is for the momentum of Pink Events to never slow down. Various diagnoses over the last three years and the pandemic have played their part in our ability to fundraise and I want to ensure we continue to provide as much help as we can to those who need it and always operate at our best. I’m incredibly proud of the ladies currently on the Committee and the work they have done since my Mum’s initial diagnosis nearly 20 years ago. Mum, Sarah, Maureen and Mandy have been an inspiration to me and I hope I can make them proud by carrying on the brilliant work they do.”

Mandy Bellfield
Trustee
“I became involved with Pink Events after family members were diagnosed with Breast cancer.
I help at various events. Source raffle prizes. I also run a small Tuck Shop at work from a set of filing drawers. Suprisingly over the last few years it has raised a substantial amount of money for Pink Events.”

Kimberley O’Rourke
Trustee

“I joined the Pink Events committee just after being diagnosed with breast cancer the previous year. My main role is helping plan and organise events, all whilst rallying my friends and family in support. I work closely with the other ladies on the committee, not only in order to raise money but to raise awareness of the disease and the effects it can have. Becoming part of Pink Events means that I can put my love of entertaining to work. I am proud to be part of Pink Events and the amazing work we do.”

MaureenMaureen Young
Trustee / Treasurer
“I am mother to Kimberley and Sarah and was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.  Sarah organised our first ball following Kimberley’s diagnosis and I joined Pink Events shortly after that.
I enjoy the role of treasurer/secretary for Pink Events and it gives me a lot of pleasure being part of an organisation which has raised so much money for the Leeds Breast Care Unit and Cancer Research UK.
I am very proud of what we do as a committee and very grateful to all the people who contribute and help to make our charity a success.”

Michael Young
Trustee
“I have attended most of the Pink Events throughout the years the charity has been going. I have generally been in the shadows of the amazing ladies who have driven Pink Events from strength to strength.
I am delighted to have been asked to step forward and take on a wider role as a trustee and look to bring some of my attributes to bear on the continuing journey of Pink Events.”
